The man appeared before Magistrate Charlyn Artiga in the No. 51 Magistrates’ Court to answer to the charge this morning.
The court was told that the fisherman, Raywat Mulloo called “Cow Curry” of Lot 36 Section B, No. 52 Village, Corentyne on May 25th, inflicted injuries on his reputed wife, Gomattie Ramsingh which resulted in the woman’s death.
Gomattie Ramsingh, 34, died at the Georgetown Public Hospital on Sunday, two days after she was admitted to the institution for injuries she sustained.
She related to relatives in a video in the hospital, how she was beaten with a piece of iron and how her reputed husband accused her of “giving blow” with another man.
The Post Mortem examination revealed that the woman died from trauma to the head and injuries to her spinal cord.
The 27-year-old accused was not required to plead to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison until June 30th, 2017.
