The 37-year-old drug mule pleaded guilty to the drug trafficking charge when she appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
Natasha Blair, a cosmetologist of Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara was busted with 532 grams of cocaine which was discovered following an x-ray. The drugs were found in her stomach and pelvic area.
She was given laxatives and she excreted 32 cocaine pellets which amounted to 322 grams and another 210 grams were taken from her vaginal area.
Customs Anti-narcotics Unit Prosecutor Koyo Sandiford disclosed that on July 2, Blair was an outgoing passenger on a Caribbean Airlines flight destined for JFK International Airport. She was at the time traveling with her 11-month old baby. She was apprehended by a CANU officer after he suspected her to be a drug mule.
Under caution from the Police, Blair told ranks that she smuggled the drugs because she needed money for herself and her child.
The Chief Magistrate after considering Blair’s early guilty plea, sentenced her to three years jail along with $1.1M dollar fine.
CANU issued a wanted bulletin for her child’s father Sherwin Stoby also known as KONG. His last address is given as 87 Roxanne Burnham Gardens, Georgetown Guyana. CANU said anyone knowing his whereabouts are asked to contact CANU at 227-3507.
