Three COVID-19 deaths in 24 hours, all pensioners. Guyana’s total now stands at 74

Guyana today recorded its 74th COVID-19 death. The victim is a 71-year-old woman from Poomeroon- Supenaam.
The Ministry of Public Health made the revelation today in a press release. According to the Ministry, the woman died while receiving care at the medical facility.
On Thursday, Guyana recorded two COVID-19 deaths, a 94 -year-old female and a 64 -year-old male.
The female was from Barima – Waini (Region 1) she was pronounced dead on arrival at the medical facility around 10:00hrs today. A test sample was collected from the deceased which tested positive for COVID-19 subsequently.

And at 11:00hrs on September 24th, 2020, another person who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) died.
That person was identified as a 64 -year-old male from Potaro – Siparuni (Region 8) who died while receiving care at the medical facility. The test sample was collected from the deceased at the time of admission and was tested positive for COVID-19 subsequently.

Officials of the Ministry of Public Health have contacted all relatives and persons to facilitate contact tracing and rapid assistance to everyone who may have been exposed to the now-dead person. The Ministry is also appealing to the general public to respect the confidentiality of the deceased and their families and to allow them to mourn their tragic loss in peace.
