Taxi driver jailed after pleading guilty to cocaine and illegal guns possession

Trevor Rodriguez, the taxi driver who police busted with over 20lbs of cocaine and several guns at his Duncan Street, Campbellville, Georgetown was this morning (June 13) sentenced to six years imprisonment after pleading guilty to the 1charges.

The 32-year-old was charged with having possession of 11 kilograms of cocaine and a 9mm pistol, a Glock 9mm and a 1.357 magnum revolver along with matching rounds when he was not the holder of a firearm license.

The jail terms, which will run concurrently, were handed down by Magistrate Annette Singh.

Police arrested Rodrigues and his wife Amanda Rodriguez after three illegal firearms, matching rounds and drugs were found at their home during a raid on May 26.

The court heard that Rodriguez is in the habit of threatening to kill his wife. On the day in question, he threatened to kill her with a gun at their Duncan Street home.

The woman called a co-worker who came to her rescue and also took away the gun from her husband.

Trevor Rodriguez also faced four other charges, two each for making use of threatening language and threatening behavior to his wife. However, these charges were dismissed.
