A prisoner who was charged with break and enter and Larceny escaped from the police lock up at the Whim police station Monday afternoon.
The escapee has been identified as Denesh Sukhram called ‘Lil Man’
This newscast understands that the prisoner was arrested after intense work by a senior rank on the Corentyne and charged, he appeared in the Whim Magistrates’ Court Monday morning. He was placed on $200,000 bail which he could not post. He was remanded to prison.
It was while in the police lock-up, waiting to be taken to the New Amsterdam prison that he managed to escape sometime after 4 pm.
“Lil man” is a notorious criminal who has been on the police’s radar for some time. This newscast was reliably informed that Commander of ‘B’ Division Paul Langevine was at the police station and made checks after he was informed. Senior ranks are calling for the station sergeant to be placed under close arrest for negligence.
The No. 2 subdivision has launched a search in efforts to apprehend the prisoner.
