In light of the global pandemic COVID-19, the Port Mourant NDC on Friday made a decision to close the Port Mourant market which will be effective from Friday, April 03rd, and also vending on the roadside will be prohibited until further notice.
This decision came after it was advised for persons to maintain 6ft distance from each other so as to limit the spread of the virus as the market usually attract a large crowd.
The NDC also noted that all businesses should be close by 6pm, and restaurants and snackettes can only provide take away services as such business owners are asked to place sinks in front of their businesses for persons to wash and sanitize their hands before entering.
Due to the rapid increase of positive cases in Guyana, persons are asked to be home at 6Pm, however actions will be taken against those persons who refuse to adhere to there guidelines.
