20-year-old Anthony Ragnauth, a mechanic who hails from Middle Road La Penitence, appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court where the indictable charge was read to him. The court was told that on May 21st, he murdered Aurora Gold Mines supply chain manager, Neil Whyte. Whyte was found naked on a bed in the Third-floor apartment of the Company’s Thomas Street, North Cummingsburg
Headquarters. His body bore multiple stab wounds. There are reports that the discovery was made shortly after a male who visited Whyte left the location.
Prior to Ragnauth appearing in court, the Police in a release said that he admitted to the crime and he took investigators to a location at Fifth Street, Alberttown, where he handed over several items belonging to the victim, as well as a knife suspected to be the murder weapon.
Ragnauth’s attorney, Latchmi Rahamat told the court that her client had his testicles squeezed with a baton by police officers who allegedly beat him while he was in custody. The accused was remanded to prison until June 18th and the matter transferred to the Chief Magistrates’ Court.
