Residents affected by recent flooding in Little Diamond on the East Coast of Demerara, said the contractor must compensate them for the damages suffered on Monday, April 26.
The residents said the flood waters only made it into the community because of a dam under construction in the community was breached as the contractor was executing works there.
Some 130 homes in Little Diamond proper and the squatting community have had their properties damaged or lost due to the flooding and this includes household articles and livestock.
the Civil Defence Commission (CDC) has been in the community assessing the damages while distributing hampers to the affected households.
