Lusignan Prison escapee, Pascal Smith was today (July, 28) caught by police in Kitty, Georgetown. Details into the fugitive’s capture are unclear with police only stating that he was caught in a pit latrine in the area.

He is now the 9th escapee apprehended by police.

Smith was among the 13 men gang who tunneled their way out of the East Coast Demerara facility last Sunday, making it the second jail break in less than two weeks. Now four prisoners remain on the run from that gang.

Prisoners who were being housed at Camp Street jail were sent to Lusignan following the first jail break and fire which destroyed most of the buildings in the compound.

Earlier in the week police apprehended eight prisoners in different parts of region 4. They are Teshawn Mckenzie, Winston Long, Odel Roberts, Jamal Forde, Jamal Joseph, Rayon Jones, Jason Howard and Kendall Skeete.

During the Camp Street jail break, several notorious prisoners escaped, while some were caught, four are still on the run. They are Stafrei Alexander, Cobena Stephens, Uree Varswyck also called Malcolm Gordon and Mark Durant called Royden Williams and ‘Smallie’.
