Twenty-four year-old Desmond James, who escaped from the Camp Street prison was Friday evening ( July 14) caught by ranks of ‘D’ Division at Canal #1 West Bank Demerara.
Police stated that around 22:50hrs, ranks acted on the information and proceeded to an abandoned house on an access Dam at Canal # 1 where James was arrested with a knife and some clothes.
He indicated that he was heading to Essequibo.
James will be charged with escaping lawful custody and already he is facing a murder charge.
Five men still remain on the run from that daring jail break and fire which has destroyed most of the buildings in the prison compound.
