Guyana records another COVID-19 related death, bringing the total to 22. There are also 23 new cases as of today 4th of August , with all coming from the Hinterland Regions.
The hinterland regions continue to account for the increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases in Guyana. Today, the Ministry of Public Health recorded a total of 23 new cases.
The country’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Shamdeo Persaud during his daily COVID-19 update disclosed that the communities of Aranaputa and Annai account for 11 new cases, Region 7 – eight new cases and in Kanapang in Region 8 there were 4 new cases.
The number of COVID-19 cases recorded in Guyana to date is 497 with 22 deaths. The active cases are 289, 38 persons are in institutional quarantine and 2 persons in the COVID-19 ICU. The latest person to die from the infectious disease is a 79-year-old man.
