The father of one of four prison escapees has allegedly told police officers during interrogation that he assisted his son, Rayon Jones and the three other escapees with fresh clothing after their daring escape from the Mazaruni Prison, two days ago.
According to the police Ralph Jones, was contacted via phone by his son who informed him of his escape.
The police have said that the elder Jones also admitted that the following day, the four escapees visited his home where he provided them each with a change of clothing. He reportedly told the police that he collected the clothing they were wearing and discarded them in an alleyway at the back of his Fourth Avenue, Bartica home.
At the scene today, ranks found a white salt bag which contained clothing, footwear, deodorant, topes, pillow and pillow-cases, a bottle of red star rub, toothbrush and a food bowl.
Sources told this newscast that the main challenge for the men would be getting off the island,, as they would have needed the assistance of a boat.
From Bartica, the men could make their way to any number of places among them Lethem, Parika, Mahdia and Tumatumari via water way or trail.
The police will now have to depend on information from members of the public who would have seen them, as it would be difficult to capture them.
