A 26 year old welder/fabricator and his father are in police custody in connection to an unlicensed firearm and suspected stolen motorcycles.
The police in a press statement said a search was conducted at the home of the Pouderoyen man on receipt of an allegation of him having stolen property on his premises.
According to the police the young man was unable to provide them with a satisfactory answer as to the owners of the motorcycles.
A further search was conducted at the home after receiving information on a firearm. It is said that the man handed over a .32 Taurus revolver to the police. The man reportedly told the police that the license for the gun was last renewed in 2017.
Both the young man and his father were taken into custody. The firearm along with 13 motorcycles and 4 frames were seized.
The police are urging persons who would have lost motorcycles or frames to visit the Vreed-en-Hoop police station to see if any of the items belong to them.
