Relatives of Shaka Bourne, the man shot and killed by police are calling for an inquest to be done into his killing. Family members are of the opinion that an inquest will clear up all the rumors. The shooting occurred at Yarakita, North West District, Region One.
Speaking from their North Ruimveldt home, the family is claiming that the policeman was having an affair with a woman Bourne shared a child with and that is what may have triggered the shooting. However, initial investigations conducted by the police tell a different story. According to the police, Bourne was shot after he allegedly pointed a loaded firearm at the cop.
Deborah Sandford said she is looking for answers on what led to her son’s demise.
The police say an unlicensed .38 revolver with five live matching rounds, as well as the service weapon used by the policeman have been lodged. A thorough investigation into the incident has since been launched by Divisional Commander, Senior Superintendent Ravindradat Budhram.
