Work on the arch at Cummings Lodge on the east coast of Demerara has being suspended until tonight. this was announced by the government who is also offering an apology for the inconvenience caused.
this comes after long lines of traffic was back up along the east coast of Demerara and commuters saying the timings was bad.
However, Project Manager Lawrence Mangar said weather permitting, the installation of the Arch should be completed today, thus allowing for a free flow of traffic tomorrow.
The Ministry of Public Infrastructure in a press release said the section of the road between the University of Guyana Access Road and Ogle Access Road will be closed to vehicular traffic to facilitation the installation of an Arch at the Eastern entrance of Georgetown. The closure started today from at 8:00 hrs to 21:00 hrs and will continue tomorrow for the same period.
