Sixty-two-year-old Ramlall Tajenarain called ‘Dovie’ of Crabwood Creek Corentyne allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself.
The labourer reportedly took his life between Friday and Saturday at the home he shared with his wife.
Sobhadrawattie Tajenarain called ‘Chico’ a school vendor told police that her husband was an alcoholic who was on a downward spiral for the past three weeks. She added that he was in the habit of threatening to commit suicide.
The woman last saw him Friday night after he went to his room which is situated on the upper flat of their two-storey house where he normally sleeps alone because of his drinking habit.
The next morning, she went to check on him but noticed that he was not opening the bedroom door and it bolted from inside.
She then peeked through a window and saw he was in a stooping position on his bed with a black canvass rope around his neck which was tied to a wooden crossbar of another window in the room.
The police were summoned who then prised open the room door and saw the body.
The body was then photographed, taken down from the wooden bar and examined for marks of violence, non-were seen. It was then taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty. His body is presently at the Skeldon mortuary awaiting Post Mortem.
