Calls are mounting for the joint services to step up their enforcement of the COVID-19 protocols with the hope of reducing the spread of the Coronavirus. The Guyana Police Force said it has noticed a concerning trend during investigations into breaches of the COVID-19 regulations, which has impacted the enforcement of the protocols.
According to the Police, Members of the Joint Services have been partnering with civilians to host events in contravention of the Covid-19 Regulations, with civilians on some occasions, assuming sole responsibility when the police intervene.
Condign action will be taken against those civilians and members of the Joint Services, whenever they are found culpable of breaching the laid down Covid-19 Regulations under any circumstances the police release said. As of Tuesday Guyana has recorded 12, 826 positive COVID-19 cases with 291 deaths.
