Rick Sucharran a 21-year-old youth from Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara was today charged with the unlawful killing of his girlfriend Sasia Adams.
Rick appeared before Chief Magistrates Ann McLennan and was not required to plea to the manslaughter charge. It is alleged that on June 10, 2018, at Lamaha street, Georgetown Sucharran unlawfully killed Sasia Adams. In the court today Sucharran was represented by attorney-at-law Sanjeev Datadin, who told the court that Adams death was an “unfortunate accident”. He added that his client took his girlfriend to the hospital and then reported the matter to the Alberttown police station.
According to Datadin, Adams had opened the car door and fell out which caused her to suffer head injuries. But family members of the woman are not buying that story that Sasia jumped from the car. In a recent interview with this outlet her mother, Jenifer called for a thorough probe to be held. A Post Mortem Examination (PME) revealed that she died from blunt trauma to the head.
Sucharran was released on $500,000 bail after Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield offered no objection. He will make his next court appearance on July 1
