Malchan “Rasta” Ramdanny, a 47 year old labourer of No. 69 Village, Corentyne was the first victim of that accident.
According to a police report, the pedal cyclist was proceeding along the road ahead of the motorcycle. The said motorcycle was a short distance behind a motorcar, traveling at an alleged fast rate of speed, as the motorcar passed the pedal cyclist, the cyclist reportedly made a sudden turn into the path of the motorcycle in an attempt to cross the road.
The police report noted that in doing so, the motorcycle collided with the pedal cyclist; as a result, both individuals received injuries and were rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital where the pedal cyclist was pronounced dead on arrival.
On the day in question the police constable was treated and referred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital and subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he died this morning.
