Venezuelan nationals on the run after robbing Guyanese businessman and wife of Guns, ammo, cash, and jewellery

Some members of the Guyana Police Force came under fire along the Aurora River by three Venezuelans suspected in the robbery of a Guyanese businessman and his wife after they responded to the robbery report.
According to a police report, the robbery was committed on  56-year-old businessman Elroy Allam and his 22-year-old reputed wife Shonna Campbell of Waterfront Port Kaituma, North West District. The police report added that the bandits escaped with one .223 Semi-Automatic Rifle with 30 live rounds and one magazine, one .32 semi Automatic pistol with ten live rounds and two magazines, one 12 gauge Semi-Automatic shotgun, $10 million dollars Guyana Currency, four gold chains, and
four gold rings. That incident took place between 23:00hrs and 23:32hrs at the businessman’s premises. The police report added that one of the three Venezuelan nationals is identifiable and other particulars are unknown.
The Police along with the G.D.F Coast Guard based at Morwhanna were immediately summoned and responded and while searching along the Aurora River the Police came under fire from occupants of a boat they observed heading in the direction of Morwhanna. They returned fire, however, the boat and the occupants made good their escape in the direction of the Guyana/Venezuela border (Imbetero). None of the ranks were injured neither could the police say if any of the suspects in the boat were injured. The police said the area was canvassed, surveillance cameras were seen and footage of the incident will be retrieved. The police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
