The police are in search of man in connection with the murder of a sixteen year old girl from the North West District.
Police Spokesman Royston Andries-Junor said the child was murdered between November 14th and 15th. Her body was found at the back of their dwelling place at Coanna Backdam.
Andries-Junor in the press statement said the child and her mother were consuming alcohol at a shop in the presence of the unknown suspect and other persons.
The child, her mother and the suspect left the shop, but the mother returned sometime later where she reportedly spent some time. The child nor the suspect were in sight.
According to the police, the child’s body was found at approximately 7:30 hrs on Sunday. Her body is at the Port Kaituma Mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.
Andries-Junior said efforts to locate the suspect who left with the teen and her mother were unsuccessful.
This is the second teenager to be murdered allegedly at the hand of a grown man. Last week Shenesa Lall, a 16 year-old from the Essequibo Coast was brutally murdered by a thirty-six year old man.
