According to a police report, enquiries disclosed that the victim and the suspect lived together along with their three children ages 11, 10 and 7 years old at Marcy Dam, Rosignol, West Bank Berbice.
The police report added that on 2020-11-13 at about 18:00 hrs the entire family went to a birthday party, during which the suspect and victim had a few drinks. Sometime later, the entire family left and went home and about 23:45 hrs the suspect was heard accusing the victim of her being unfaithful the day before.
The police report added that in response to the accusation, the victim threatened to leave the house resulting in further verbal abuse by both parties, the suspect then went to the kitchen and returned with a knife and stabbed the victim who was at the time lying on her bed and then ran out of the house.
After the suspect left the house, an alarm was raised by one of the children, to which relatives who live in the said yard responded and found the victim in an unconscious state. The victim was then picked up and placed in a taxi by relatives and other persons from the said yard and taken to Fort Wellington Public Hospital where she was pronounced dead by a Doctor on Duty.
One stab wound was seen on her left side breast. Her body was then taken to the Bailey’s Funeral Home where it awaits Post Mortem Examination. The suspect was subsequently arrested and placed into custody.
