Canu busts cargo vessel at GNIC wharf with 153 pounds of Marijuana. Two Bajans and 4 Guyanese in custody.

 Six suspects are in custody, 4 Guyanese and 2 Barbadian Nationals following a drug bust by the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit on Tuesday. 

 The six suspects were identified as Michael Forde, Trevor Robinson, Randy Welch, Clyde Outridge, Hardat Monilall, and James Emptage.

153 pounds of marijuana was busted on a Barbados cargo vessel at the GNIC Wharf, Lombard Street Georgetown between October, 6th and 7th.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Barbados Registered cargo vessel marked “CV1 Barbados” which was laden with perishable goods (vegetables inclusive of plantains, coconut, pumpkins) and other goods was searched twice this week as part of an ongoing operation, a release from the CANU said.

According to CANU, large bulk parcels of suspected marijuana were uncovered, concealed in a section of the vessel. Two of the crew members of the vessel who were arrested are Barbadian Nationals, whilst the four other suspects arrested are Guyanese Nationals. The vessel is believed to have been in Guyana for several weeks and had undergone repairs whilst docked here.

There were a total of 71 Parcels weighing a total of 69.246 kilograms of suspected Marijuana.

CANU said the investigations are ongoing and the suspects are expected to be arraigned in court tomorrow.
