94 -year-old female and 64 -year-old male are the two latest COVID-19 deaths, total now 73.

A 94 -year-old female and a 64 -year-old male are Guyana’s two latest COVID-19 fatalities. That brings the total now to 73.
The female from Barima – Waini (Region 1) was pronounced dead upon arrival at our medical facility around 10:00hrs today. A test sample was collected from the deceased and was tested positive for COVID-19 subsequently.

And at 11:00hrs on September 24 th, 2020, another person who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) died.
That person was identified as a 64 -year-old male from Potaro – Siparuni (Region 8) who died while receiving care at our medical facility. The test sample was collected from the deceased at the time of admission and was tested positive for COVID-19 subsequently.

Officials of the Ministry of Public Health have contacted all relatives and persons to facilitate contact tracing and rapid assistance to everyone who may have been exposed to the now-dead person. The
Ministry is also appealing to the general public to respect the confidentiality of the deceased and their families and to allow them to mourn their tragic loss in peace.
