The two latest fatalities are an 80-year-old and 63 -year-old, both females from the Barima/Waini Region (Region 1). The death toll is now 60.
According to a release from the Ministry of Public Health, both of the women died while receiving care at our medical facility.
Officials of the Ministry have contacted all relatives and persons to facilitate contact tracing and rapid assistance to everyone who may have been exposed to the now-dead persons.
Meanwhile, Guyana today has recorded 26 new COVID-19 cases bringing the total to 1984.
