Dead is Nickosie Vankenie, 23, a labourer of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
According to a police, their initial investigations revealed that at about 23:40h Friday(4th July 2020) the victim and suspect were under a shed next to a shop in Patrick Dam, New Amsterdam where they reportedly had an argument over a “Guinness” and the suspect allegedly stabbed Vankenie twice in the region of his neck and abdomen.
The young man was taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he received medical attention and admitted in the ICU, but succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, July 5th,2020.
After committing the act, the suspect fled the scene. He was apprehended Sunday afternoon by Police.
The police say their investigators are in possession of a statement from an eyewitness as the investigations continue into the murder.
