The drug bust took place on Monday afternoon on Mandela Avenue, behind the Botanical Gardens in Georgetown. According to a release from the Customs Anti-narcotics unit (CANU) the intercepted drugs which weighed 46.59 kilograms is equivalent to just over 102 pounds of marijuana was found in a car.
CANU said the drugs were being transported from a location in Berbice to a specific location in Georgetown, when the car the suspect was driving was intercepted on Mandela Avenue. The car was searched and parcels of suspected bulk marijuana were found in the trunk.
CANU has identified one of the suspects as 35yr old Jairam Lallman of 757 Fort Ordnance Housing Scheme, East Canje Berbice, he along with three others are in custody assisting with the investigations.
