Police are investigating the murder of 39-year-old Olrick Da Costa, of Public Road Sommerset, Essequibo Coast. The man was stabbed at his home Sunday morning reportedly by his 26-year-old nephew.
According to a statement from the Police, the uncle and his nephew had an argument over a stolen cell phone when the Da Costa (uncle) reportedly assaulted the suspect (nephew) who in retaliation stabbed him in the abdomen with a knife.
Da Costa was rushed to the Charity Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body is at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.
The alleged murder weapon was recovered.
