Three men, Aundre Singh of 779 Section B, Block X Diamond Housing Scheme, Clifford Gouveia of Lot 14 Little Abary, ECD and Oneil Charan of Lot 47 Sandy Babb Street, Kitty Georgetown were all arrested by agents of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit on Wednesday 3rd of October, 2018. The three suspects are expected to appear in court today.
The drug enforcement agency said the men were intercepted on the Rupert Craig Highway in the vicinity of the Kitty seawall between Pere Street and Queen Street dead end with 5.582 kilograms of cocaine at the interception and a further 6.6 grams of cocaine was found at Singh’s home, one suspect is in custody.
Further operation by CANU resulted in the seizure of 2 motor cars, monies and firearms: 1 Taurus Revolver with matching ammunition and 1 Pistol with matching ammunition. It CANU said it should be noted that both firearms and matching ammunition were found after the initial interdiction at a subsequent search of Singh’s Premises at Diamond. The Police were called in to investigate the illegal weapons.
According to CANU, Singh and Charan were in Singh’s car a white Premio PSS 8977 while Gouveia was the driver of PLL 5213. CANU intercepted the men in the vicinity of the Kitty Seawall as the men transferring a box containing 5 suspected bricks of cocaine and beauty soaps between the said cars.
Additionally, the drug enforcement agency said that Singh’s Diamond home, East Bank Demerara was later searched and a further 6.6 grams of suspected cocaine, a large quantity of cash and the two above mentioned unlicensed weapons and ammunition were unearthed.
