Two Freeman Street youths to stand trial in High Court for the murder of Albion businessman.

The young men, 19 yr. old Shawn DaSantos, and 18 yr. old Stephen Howard were both committed to stand trial in the High Court for the murder of 58-year-old Fazal Shaheed.  The decision was handed down by
Magistrate Fabayo Azore in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court at the end of the Preliminary Inquiry.
At the time of the murder, the family were preparing for a one-year religious function for their deceased father, when masked gunmen armed with handguns pounced on them demanding cash and jewelery. Fazal Shaheed, who hails from Albion, Corentyne Berbice was shot approximately three times to his abdomen and once in the region of his lungs.
His brothers, Abdul Talim Shaheed and Shalim Shaheed were also injured during the attack. The incident took place at their parents Lot 194 Freeman Street, East La Penitence home in Georgetown back in September 2017.
The Police moved in quickly and immediately cracked the case after they arrested two men from the community. After conducting further investigations the two men were charged with the capital offence.
