Josel Perez Mona pleaded guilty to the offence and was slapped with a one-year jail sentence by Magistrate Leron Daly.
Mona escaped Police custody on September 25th, 2018 while at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The court was told that the police escorted him to seek medical attention at the GPHC, while at the hospital Mona requested to use the washroom and made good his escape through the toilet window. The Cuban national was later re-arrested. He was initially in custody pending a break and enter charge which allegedly took place on Robb Street.
