An East Bank Demerara man was today released on $300,000 for the rape of a child. The 47-year-old man appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrate where the case was heard in camera. The man was not required to plea to the indictable offence.
The court was told that between September 1, 2017, and September 30, 2017, in an East Bank Community the man engaged in sexual penetration with a child which lived in the same house with him.
The man’s attorney Eusi Anderson in making his bail application asked for reasonable bail. The man was ordered to stay away from the victim and will return to court on September 13.
