Two Corentyne Berbice families were plunged into mourning following an accident at Mahaicony on the East Coast of Demerara this afternoon.
Dead are Aubrey Ross, a driver from Queenstown, Corriverton, Corentyne Berbice and Ulex Park King a 17-year-old passenger, of Manchester Corentyne Berbice, her sister, Judy Park managed to survive with minor injuries. Another passenger is said to be in a critical condition.
The car was heading to Berbice when the accident occurred.
Eyewitnesses say the man was driving at a fast rate, when he lost control of the vehicle which toppled and landed in the trench.
Residents said when the car was pulled from the trench the driver was already dead. The young lady succumbed shortly after she was rushed to the Mahaicony Hospital.
Residents came out in their numbers to help the victims who were trapped in the vehicle. A Police probe is underway.
