A Pork knocker and a taxi driver were today remanded to prison for the murder Bourda Market cheese vendor, Troy Ramalho.
The men Akeem Morris, 23 years old and George Paton, 34 years old were not required to plea when they appeared by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The court was told that on August 15 in Robb Street, Bourda the two allegedly murdered Ramalho during a robbery.
Morris, whose profession was given as a pork knocker was represented by attorney-at-law George Thomas while Paton, a taxi driver was unrepresented. Both men will return to court on September 21.
The breakthrough came after Paton was arrested. Paton allegedly told investigators that he knew the men who killed the vendor and that he was hired by them. The taxi driver also reportedly said that he was paid $30,000 after he had completed the drops for which he was hired to do.
Ramalho, who plied this trade at the Bourda Market for several years had closed his stall and was awaiting a taxi when the men attacked him.
