Denzil Park, 49, his 14-year-old son, Ricardo DenHart, and 47 Patrick Ram appeared before the Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Friday and was slapped a drug trafficking charge.
This was after the men were allegedly busted with 22 pounds of cocaine in the parking lot at Popeyes Restaurant, Vlissengen Road on August 14th. The men denied the charge. In the court, the men were represented by Attorney-at-Law Nigel Hughes who appeal to the magistrate for reasonable bail.
Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield, told the court that the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit officers were on a sting operation at Popeyes Fast Food Restaurant on Vlissengen Road parking lot when they observed two vehicles.
The officers observed DenHart coming out from a motor car PWW 8454 with a multicoloured shopping bag over to minibus PKK 6944 to Ram. Park and his son were in the minibus also.
Mansfield said the officers approached both vehicles and conducted a search. Behind the driver seat of the minibus, they found several square brick like parcels which contained cocaine.
According to the Prosecutor, there is also CCTV surveillance footage from the restaurant to support the case.
The Chief Magistrates released the 14-year-old on $200,000 and remanded the other defendants to prison until 31st August.
