Otis “Otisha”, Pearson, was today committed to stand trial in the High Court.
The popular transgender man was before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore on a rape charge. The court was told that on December 24th, 2017, at Station Street Kitty, Pearson engaged in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16. Otisha was not required to plea to the charge. He is currently out on bail.
The Child Care and Protection Agency pounced on the story after Pearson allegedly made some remarks in an interview on a Television newscast about him having a “little boy” for every day of the week, he quickly back peddled and said his statement was taken out of context.
Things were further compounded when a photograph surfaced of Pearson and a lad who is said to be minor. This prompted an investigation from the Child Care and Protection Agency. The Agency completed its investigation and handed over the file to the Police.
In March of this year, Otisha was arrested on an allegation that he was having sexual relations with underage boys. The Child Care and Protection Agency (CC&PA) assisted the police in the probe. The file was completed and sent to the DPP’s Chambers for legal advice after which the DPP recommended charges.
