Stephon Belle of Port Kaituma Water Front was today charged with engaging in sexual activities with a child under the age of 16. The man appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and was not required to plea to the indictable charge.
The incident reportedly occurred on July 14th, 2018 at his home.
The unrepresented man was subsequently released on $350,000 bail and the matter was transferred to the Mathew’s Ridge Magistrates’ Court for August 7th.
There are reports that both parties are known to each other. Belle reportedly invited the child over to his house and allegedly forced himself on her and raped her.
The child revealed the ordeal to the social worker who later reported the matter to the Police.
