19-year-old committed to stand trial in the high court for attempted murder

A 19-year-old will stand trial in the High Court for attempted murder. Calvin George, a Grove resident appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court where he was told that he was committed to stand trial in the High Court for the indictable charge of attempted murder.

 

George was charged with attempted to kill Orwin Peters of Kaneville, East Bank Demerara. The incident occurred on April 11, 2108.

 

It was reported that the men had an argument over the use of a washroom. George later armed with a knife attacked Peters.

 

The unrepresented George remained in prison after being granted bail because he was unable to secure the sum.
