Two prisoner officers in custody after a pound of  marijuana is busted

The men were doing hospital duties when a parcel was handed over to one of the officers.  The information was filtered down to prison officials who called in the Police.
 The bust was done by CID ranks of the Brickdam Police Station on Sunday evening at the East Coast Bus park.
 The prison officer reportedly admitted to collecting the item from a civilian to take to a prisoner to eat. He said he was paid $20,000 dollars to do so, a release from the Director of Prisons said.
The release from the Director of Prisons, Gladwin Samuels added that based on information received, two prison officers collected a parcel from a civilian, while on duty at the GPHC. The parcel reportedly contained seeds, leaves and stems suspected to be marijuana. An operation was set up and the bus they were traveling in was stopped on the East Coast bus park area. A search was carried out by police and the suspected marijuana was found in a black bag in the possession of a prison officer.
The two prison officers who were together were escorted to the Brickdam Police Station. At the station, the police carried out their required functions and when the two parcels were weighed, it amounted to 1 pound. A prisoner officer admitted to collecting the item from a civilian to take to a prisoner to eat, the release said. According to the prison’s director, one of the officers said he was paid $20,000. They are presently in police custody.
