Maryann Daby made her 2nd appearance in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court this morning, this time before Chief Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan where she was further remanded to prison on the grounds of public safety.
The charges read that on May 13 at Albert Street and Thomas Land, Daby with the intent to commit murder, attempted to discharge a firearm at Police Constable Christopher Kissoon. She was not required to plea to the indictable charge.
On the same day in question, Daby had in her possession a .32 pistol along with 6 live rounds without having a licensed for that firearm.
The matter was first heard before Senior Magistrate, Judy Latchman who transferred the matter to the Chief Magistrate.
During today’s proceedings before the Chief Magistrate, Daby’s attorney Mark Waldron made another bail application which was denied. He told the court that his client is a licensed firearm holder since 2014.
Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield objected to the bail stating that Maryann is not a licensed firearm holder, in fact, he told that court that the woman’s documents expired several months ago.
Mansfield also told that court that the police file is incomplete. Daby was remanded to prison until May 30th.
There are reports the off-duty Police officer approached Daby after she was seen allegedly firing several shots in the air.
The woman reportedly placed the gun forehead of the Policeman and pulled the trigger but the gun was empty. During her, May 13 court appearance, her lawyer, Mark Waldron told that court that no spent shells were found in the GMRSC compound.
