The sentence was handed down by Magistrate Judy Latchman in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court today.
Daniel Prince,18 and Donovan Richardson,21 admitted that on May 15th at Hadfield Street, Georgetown, they robbed Osafo Hill of a cell phone and other items totaling $56,000.
The men were unrepresented. However, Richardson told the court “Somebody took the thing away from the man and I thief it back from them.”
Police Prosecutor Arwin Moore told the court on the day in question, the victim was walking along Hadfield Street when he was approached by the two defendants. Moore added that the accused punched Hill and snatched his cell phone along with the other items, the men then made good their escape. He said the men were later arrested by the police with the stolen items in their possession.
The men were both sentenced to 4 years 6 months each in prison for the offence.
