A Sophia man today opted to spend six months behind bars for the theft of a bicycle and a car battery.
The man Troy Joseph who appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Fabayo Azore admitted to the offence. Joseph told that court that on April 28th at Lamaha Gardens he stole a bicycle valued at $13,000 and a car battery valued at $35,000, the property of Joseph Innis. According to the man, he was charged with similar offences in the past.
Magistrate Azore in her ruling fined the man $50,000 or six months in jail should he fail to pay the fine, to that the man responded that he would rather serve the jail sentence.
