Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield told the court that the accused is a suspect in the deadly pirate attack in neighbouring Suriname, which left four fishermen dead, 11missing and five survivors. However, today he was before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on two robbery charges.
Makool Monolar called “Fyah” appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ court this morning and was slapped with two robbery charges. It is alleged that the #43 Village, Corentyne, businessman, back in April 2015, in Guyana’s territorial waters in the Corentyne river along with others, robbed a vessel named “Sir Navin”, two outboard engines valued $1.8. million property of Daneshwar Reddy. The men were armed with guns and knives the court was told.
Then in August 2016, while being armed with guns and knives in the Corentyne River, he stole the vessel “Captain Finish” valued $2.3M property of Vikash Balkisson.
Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield objected to bail on the grounds that the businessman is a suspect in the recent pirate attack on four fishing vessels in Suriname.
The businessman was remanded to prison until May, 30th and the case was transferred to the Springlands Magistrates’ Court.
