Twenty-five year old Debbie Hansraj appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Senior Magistrate Fabio Azore. At the conclusion of the preliminary inquiry, it was found that there was insufficient evidence for the matter to be referred to the High Court, Magistrate Azore then dismissed the matter against the young woman.
Debbie Hansraj was charged with killing her brother Vishal Hansraj in 2017 at their Covent Garden, East Bank Demerara home. Vishal according to the reports was stabbed twice with a knife after intervening in an argument between his sister and mother. The siblings were said to be under the influence of alcohol.
