The driver involved in that fatal Kuru Kururu Public Road, Soesdyke/Linden Highway accident was today slapped with a causing death by dangerous driving charge.
The 36-year-old man, Sadat Newark, appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman and pleaded not guilty to the charge. He was released on $1.5M bail. It is alleged that back in February this year, at Kuru Kururu, Newark drove motor car PPR 378 in a dangerous manner causing the death of Dexter Conway.
Conway was reportedly standing on the side of the road next to his motor lorry, which was stationary, when Newark’s car collided with him.
The man was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Magistrate Latchman transferred the matter to Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for the next hearing on May 8th.
