The indictable charge of attempted murder was today read to Calvin George of Grove East Bank Demerara, when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
The court was told that the 19-year-old on April 11th at Kainville, EBD wounded Orwin Peters with intent to commit murder.
Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield objected to bail on the grounds that both parties are known to each other.
The court was told that on the day in question, George and Peters were involved in a heated argument over the use of a toilet which was situated in the victim’s yard.
During the argument, it is alleged that George became annoyed and pulled out a knife and stabbed Peters in his abdomen.
The Magistrate, however, released George on $200,000 bail and adjourned the matter until May 18.
