A sting operation conducted this morning by ranks of the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit resulted in a large quantity of compressed marijuana being busted.
The bust took place on Sheriff Street just in the vicinity of Royal Castle and the marijuana was found in plastic wrapped packages in the trunk and backseat of a 190 corona car. There are reports that the prohibited substance came from New Amsterdam Berbice.
This newscast understands that the driver parked the car and fled the scene before CANU got to the location. He is currently being sought by CANU. Reports also state that the man hails from Berbice.
