A father and son appeared today in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to answer charges associated with the recent carjacking ring that was dismantled by the Police.

The men, 43-year-old Nigel Chung and his son Ricky Chung, said to be welders appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman where they were charged with two counts of imitation of an identification mark of a registered motor vehicle. The father and son who were released on $200,000 bail each, will return to court on March 12.

The court was told that the two between August 17, 2017, and February 13, 2018, fraudulently used chassis plate number 121315388 on a registered Toyota Spacio motor vehicle knowing same to be false. Additionally between December 9, 2017, and February 13, 2018, used chassis plate number NZ2 2400013009 on Toyota Allion motor vehicle.

According to the Prosecutor, both vehicles were seized at Chung’s Coverden Garden home. The vehicles which were reported stolen were identified by their respective owners at the Brickman Police Station.
