The charred remains of an elderly man was discovered moments ago at his Plaisance, East Coast Demerara by police ranks and firefighters who were clearing debris from the area following Friday’s fire that has left 30 persons homeless.
The man has been identified as James Johnson said to be in his 80s. He was trapped in the fire which gutted three buildings.
Currently, Minister within the Ministry of Natural Resources Simona Broomes and Minister of Finance Winston Jordan are visiting the displaced persons with hampers. Residents expressed sadness over the discovery.
