Amair Ally the 30-year-old businessman of Good Fortune, West Bank Demerara appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and pleaded not guilty to the drug trafficking charge.
The 20 pounds of cocaine was busted by CANU ranks in frozen fish at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA)it was destined for the United States. It is alleged that on February 6, 2018, at the Laparkan Cargo Shed, CJIA, Ally trafficked 9.366 kilograms of cocaine.
Ally was represented by Attorney- at Law, Bernard DaSilva and in his bail application he told the court that the drugs were not found in his client’s possession. He added the drugs were found in the belly of a cargo of frozen fish which was at the airport.
Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) prosecutor, Kunyo Sandiford objected to bail on the grounds of the seriousness of the charge. After considering the objection raised by the prosecutor, Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan remanded Ally until March 7.
